Celebrity Divorces: Sandra Bullock and Jesse James (When Is "I'm Sorry" Not Enough?)

This post deals with a question raised by the ongoing divorce saga between actress Sandra Bullock and her alleged cheating husband, Jesse James. The question of the day is: When is "I'm sorry" not enough? In other words, if your own spouse, "Sluggo," committed adultery, would you take him back if he said, "I'm sorry?"
According to numerous news reports, James has not only apologized for his alleged infidelity, but also has indicated that he knew he would eventually get caught if he committed adultery. Also, as an apparent part of his cathartic confession, James has also been reported as essentially saying that threw away and "self-sabotaged" his own marriage.
Is this enough for Ms. Bullock to take him back? I have no idea. And frankly, I believe that it's a decision to be made by her, or between the two of them. But how would you react if you were the victim of adultery? How do people decide when it is appropriate to take back a cheating spouse, or when they should see a divorce lawyer?
What do you think?

Celebrity Divorces: Sandra Bullock

After widespread news reports of her husband's alleged adultery, popular actress Sandra Bullock has reportedly just filed for divorce. But the same news reports also revealed a nice surprise! They revealed that Ms. Bullock and her spouse, Jesse James, had adopted a baby boy back in January. According to news reports, Ms. Bullock intends to seek custody of their adopted son and she will raise him as a single parent.
This case raises some interesting issues about single parenting. Single parenting is nothing new in this country, or in most places around the world. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, in 2006, 12.9 million families in the United States were headed by single parents. 80% of them were headed by single mothers.
Naturally, single parenting presents some challenges. In many cases, it means that there is only one income to support the family. There are also some social challlenges, such as, in some cases, the lack of a father for father-daughter events. What other challenges are there for families headed by single parents?
Don't you agree that single parenting CAN work?! Children of divorce can and do grow up to be well adjusted adults. Perhaps you know some success stories! What do you think?
In any event, I am confident that all of us wish Ms. Bullock success in raising her adopted son!

Celebrity Divorces: Sandra Bullock

Have you seen the movie, "The Blind Side," starring Sandra Bullock? If so, then you know why the popular actress recently won an Academy Award. And who hasn't also been touched by the heart-felt expressions of love by Ms. Bullock for her spouse, Jesse James? They seemed to have a perfect marriage, didn't they?

As a result, I am sure that everyone is both shocked and very disappointed to hear the news reports that the couple has split. No one really knows whether or not the news reports are true. I don't need to go into all the sordid details here.

But here's hoping that Ms. Bullock, who seems to be a genuinely nice person, will go through this ordeal as painlessly as possible. It's no wonder that most of the public seems to be so supportive of Ms. Bullock, "America's Sweetheart."
